Surah Al-Lail is the 92nd chapter of the Holy Quran, titled ” The Night.” Revealed in Mecca, it consists of 21 verses and 1 Raku and is found in juz 30.
The Surah opens by highlighting the night and its darkness, symbolizing Allah’s power and wisdom. It reflects on the human soul, which has the capacity for both a good and evil. The verses significance of performing good deeds and seeking Allah’s approval while cautioning against greed and selfishness.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَالَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَى إِنَّ سَعِيكُمْ لَشَتَّى فَأَمَّا و مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ اليسرى وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى وَكَذَّبَ بالْحُسْنَى فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدُّى إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَى وَإِنَّ لَنَا الْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَى فَانْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَقَّى لَا يَصْلُهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى وَالَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى وَ الَّذِي يُؤْتَى مَا لَهُ يَتَزَكَّى وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَى إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَى ، وَلَسَوفَ يَرْضٰى
Translation to Surah Al-Lail
ترجمہ
قسم ہے رات کے جب وہ چھا جائے
اور دن کی جب وہ روشن ہو جائے
اور اس ذات کی جس نے پیدا کیے نر اور مادہ
بے شک تمہاری کوشش طرح طرح کی ہے
سو جس نے دیا (اللّٰہ کی راہ میں) اور ڈرا
اور سچ جانا بہترین بات کو
دو توفیق دیں گے ہم اس کو آسان طریقے کی
اور وہ جس نے بخل کیا اور بے پرواہ بنا رہا
اور جھوٹ سمجھا بہترین بات کو
تو ہم پہنچا دیں گے اسے سختی میں
اور نہ کام ائے گا اس کے اس کا مال جب وہ نیچے گرے گا
بے شک ہمارا زمہ ہے راہ دکھا دینا
اور بے شک ہماری ہی ہیں آخرت اور دنیا
سو میں نے تم کو خبردار کر دیا آگ سے بھڑکتی ہوئی
نہ داخل ہوگا اس میں مگر جو بڑا بدبخت ہے
جس میں جھٹلایا اور منہ پھیرا
اور بچا لیا جائے گا اس سے بڑا پرہیزگار
وہ جو دیتا ہے اپنا مال تاکہ پاک ہو
جب کہ نہ ہو کسی کا اس پر کوئی احسان جس کا بدلہ اتارا جائے
بلکہ (دیتا ہے) حاصل کرنے کے لیے رضا مندی اپنے رب اعلیٰ کی۔
اور عنقریب وہ خوش ہو جائے گا
Translation
By night when it’s overcast
And of the day when it is bright.
And of him who created male and female.
Verily, your efforts are of all sorts.
So he who gave (in the way of Allah) and feared
And to be true is the best thing.
We will give him two chances in a simple way.
And he who has been disobedient and unconcerned.
and considered the best thing to be a lie.
So We will bring him into hardship.
And his wealth will not be of use when he falls down.
Verily, it is our duty to show the way.
And verily to Us belong the Hereafter and the world.
So I warned you of the fire.
He will not enter into it, but he who is most wretched.
in which he denied and turned away.
And he will be saved from the most pious.
He who gives his wealth, that he may be pure.
When there is no favor from anyone for which it will be recompensed.
Rather, (he gives) the consent of his Lord to obtain it.
And soon he will rejoice.
Traducción
Por la noche, cuando está nublado
Y del día en que amanece.
Y de aquel que creó al varón y a la hembra.
Verdaderamente, vuestros esfuerzos son de todo tipo.
Quien haya dado y haya temido
Y ser verdad es lo mejor.
Le daremos dos oportunidades de una manera sencilla.
Y el que ha sido desobediente e indiferente.
y consideró que lo mejor era una mentira.
Y lo llevaremos a la dificultad.
Y sus riquezas no servirán de nada cuando él caiga.
Verdaderamente, es nuestro deber mostrar el camino.
Y a Nosotros pertenecen el Más Allá y el mundo.
Por eso te advertí del fuego.
No entrará en ella él, sino el más miserable.
en la que él negó y se alejó.
Y se salvará de los más piadosos.
El que da sus riquezas, para que sea puro.
Cuando no haya favor de nadie por el cual sea recompensado.
Más bien, (da) el consentimiento de su Señor para obtenerlo.
Y pronto se regocijará.
Benefits of Surah Al-Lail
روحانی غور و فکر
سُوْرَۃُالَّیْلِ انسانوں کو اپنے اعمال کا جائزہ لینے اور ان پر غور و فکر کرنے کی دعوت دیتی ہے یہ مومنوں کا اپنے اعمال کو اسلامی اصولوں کے مطابق ڈالنے اور نیتوں کی پاکیزگی کو برقرار کرنے کی ترغیب دیتی ہے۔
صدقہ کی ترغیب
یہ سورہ صدقہ کرنے اور دوسروں کی مدد کرنے کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرتی ہے اس کا مستقل ورد مومن کے دل میں سخاوت کو بیدار کرتا ہے اور اسے دوسروں کی ضروریات کا خیال رکھنے پر آمادہ کرتا ہے
مشکلات سے حفاظت
سُوْرَۃُالَّیْلِ لالچ اور خود غرضی کے نقصان دہ اثرات پر غور کرنے کی تلقین کرتی ہے۔ اس کا ورد انسان کو غرور اور خود پرستی سے بچنے میں مدد دیتا ہے جو زندگی کو سہل اور پرسکون بناتا ہے۔
Spiritual contemplation
Surah Al-Lail invites human beings to review and reflect on their actions, it encourages believers to put their actions in accordance with Islamic principles and maintain the purity of intentions.
Encouragement of Charity
This Surah highlights the importance of doing charity and helping others, its constant recitation awakens generosity in the heart of the believer and motivates him to take care of the needs of others.
Protection from difficulties
Surah Al-lail exhorts us to consider the harmful effects of greed and selfishness. His recitation helps a person to avoid arrogance and selfishness which makes life easier and calmer.
